Christmas

Most of the Christian world waits for this holiday all year, but what does it mean to you? For some, it means lots of presents and all sorts of getting together with family. For others, it is just another holiday and for some, it is just another day on the calendar. We celebrate the birth of Jesus at this time of year but Jewish historians place His birth during the Feast of Tabernacles during September/October. Truly it doesn’t matter when you celebrate our Savior’s birth as long as you know Him as your Savior.

The Son of God was the first gift given to all of us and all we have to do is accept it when we know that we truly need it. God calls us by His Holy Spirit to convict us that we can’t get to heaven without faith in Jesus and we should accept the gift given by His grace. It is a gift given to you by the Creator of everything. Isn’t He more important than your Mom or even Santa Clause?

The gift that Jesus gave to us is more valuable than all of the money in the whole world so shouldn’t we treasure it above everything else? I do.

There was always a plan…

Each of us was known to God from the beginning. He has known you and your choices since before the Earth was created. He chose each of us to be His at that time and He knew when we would come to Him. He also knew beforehand each ability that each of us would have and what we would be able to do for His Kingdom. Could we refuse to be His? We could but eventually, His will would bring us to the point of giving our life to Him.

I felt the call to give my life to Him over thirty-eight years ago and I refused to go in that direction. But, twenty-two years ago He got my attention by bringing my son into the world and convicting me of my need to be an example to this child. Granted, I haven’t been a perfect example and I doubt that many people think they have been a perfect example for their children. We can only be a good example for our children if we are following Jesus and trying to be more like Him.

God has a plan for us and all you have to do is ask Him if you haven’t found your plan or your path. He will show it to you. Listen to His teachings from His Word, read it and study it and ask Him to reveal it to you and He will do it. God has been waiting for all of us to come to Him in surrendering to His call. You may not be a preacher or a teacher but you can be a Christian and be an example before your family or your co-workers.

God knows how well you can perform in His Kingdom because He can see your future and all of those that you will have an impact on in some way. God loves you and every human being on this planet, whether they know Him or not and He can use your influence to touch each person in some way and bring some of them into His family. Seek Him and His path for your life. Just ask Him to show it to you and He will and you may influence the next evangelist that touches millions of people.

Forgiveness and surrender

What is the difference between a lost person who doesn’t know Jesus and a Christian? The Christian has surrendered their life to Christ and has been forgiven and the lost person has not. So, what can we do? Tell people about Jesus! Tell them how He has brought joy into our lives because He provided a way for us to be forgiven. Jesus came to bring this good news, the gospel, to everyone who will receive it and it is a free gift from God by His grace to those who will accept it.

Jesus can tell us through the Word and then we are supposed to take that news to others. Your friends, your family, or anyone who will listen. They all need to hear it. Some will accept it and gladly give their hearts to Jesus and some will not but unless they hear it or read it somewhere from someone…they will never know the joy of knowing Him! God loves His creation and He loves all of us. He may not be happy with the way some of us live or the way we teach our children to live but He still loves us.

That is exactly why He sent Jesus to live among us and be the Lamb of God Who takes away the sins of the world. So that we could have a life after this one and into eternity with Him. Unless others know about Him and the grace that is offered through our belief in Jesus as our Savior, our eternity will be very different than the future that Jesus told His disciples about. I pray that anyone who reads this will seek Him out as your Savior and give your life to Him today. We are not promised tomorrow so make your decision as soon as possible. He is coming for His Bride and only those who have given their hearts to Him will be going when that trumpet sounds one day.

Give your worries to God

God’s gift to you!

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2:8‭-‬9 KJV https://bible.com/verse-of-the-day/eph.2.8-9/67216

Believe in the Savior!

He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. John 7:38 KJV https://bible.com/verse-of-the-day/jhn.7.38/20852

Scrollin’, scrollin’, scrollin’

How much time do you spend doing exactly that? It seems that many people spend far more time on all platforms of social media than they realize. I heard this on the news today and I have a son that has been on Facebook longer than he should’ve been and it just hit home I guess. The story on the news was about how easy it is to find and get illegal drugs on any platform. The right keywords or hashtags that trigger a need or a buy and it won’t take long for someone to contact you.

I know that seeking any knowledge of Jesus is not a high priority for many young people these days since many of them claim that they don’t believe in any religion. Why? Religion has caused so many problems in the past and even today but that shouldn’t keep you from seeking your Savior. Having a relationship with Jesus is not “religion”! He had many arguments with the religious leaders of His day mainly because they thought that their strict adherence to their religion would save their souls.

They were teaching their religion and its rules as the way to heaven and it is not! Belief in Jesus as your Savior is the only way to gain salvation. Then you live your life trying to be more like Him. Without the Holy Spirit’s help we can’t begin to be more like Him but we won’t go back to the life we lived before. We can’t “work” our way into heaven by keeping the Ten Commandments because nobody can keep from breaking even one of them. From God’s perspective, even breaking one commandment makes you guilty of all of them. Because one sin, no matter how insignificant, is enough to condemn you to hell.

That is why Jesus had to come to Earth and live as one of us “yet without sin“, died an atoning death on the cross and then rose from the grave as the victor over death and the grave. It is your belief in Him as your Savior, not a set of rules, that grants you salvation and His righteousness by the grace of God. No extra work or abiding by a set of rules will gain you eternity…only your belief in Jesus as your Savior. Just like the thief on the cross. He believed in Jesus as the Savior, his Savior and Jesus said to him, “today, you will be with Me in paradise“.

That is why my advice to anyone who may be depressed or down or anxious is to seek the One Who can save your soul and give you a joy in Him that no drug can ever match!

When we are at our worst…

God still loves us. Even if we haven’t accepted Him as our Savior yet, He still loves us. When we have finally accepted Him as our Savior and Lord…His love surrounds us and binds us to Him for eternity. That is how awesome our God is!

Even though we may not feel like being loved, God loves us. When we are depressed about something in our lives or we just wake up feeling down…God still loves us. Our feelings and our outlook on our lives don’t have any impact on His love toward us because He loved us long before we were even born.

Don’t think of your life as if it doesn’t have any meaning because I have those days too. Think about your life as if it was a new life every morning. God gives each of us another day to live and be useful to Him, so when you wake up thank Him for the day and whatever comes in that day. He may use your outlook on life to bring someone to know Jesus as their Savior, even if you don’t get a chance to witness to them. They may see His work in your life and decide that He is needed in their life as well.

God did this!

who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: Colossians 1:13 KJV https://bible.com/verse-of-the-day/col.1.13/67114

The love of God…

God’s love for you began before He created anything. His love for you is everlasting and deeper than you will know until you are in His Presence. Many times it seems that we take His love for granted and all of His blessings and mercy too but He still pours them into our lives even when we don’t acknowledge them. Why do we act this way toward the One Who loves us most in all of creation? Because, even though we may belong to Him and claim Him as our Savior, we are still flawed human beings.

Your life is precious to God and He holds you in His hand because He knows what His plans are for you. He will never leave you or forsake you even if you forget about Him from time to time. Have you considered that He holds the entire universe together but He also knows how many hairs are on your head? I’m not speaking of one or two people, I am talking about every person on the planet! Even those who don’t know Him as their Savior. God is our Savior and our Redeemer and our Creator. Doesn’t He deserve to be praised and thanked for waking us up every morning?

Thank God for your day and for all of the blessings that you have because if you truly think about it…everything that you have is a gift and a blessing sent to you from God.
