A Hard Rebuke For Today’s Teenagers Who Lead Christian Clubs: It’s Time To Stop Being Spectators And Joining In The “Crowd”

Dear Teenage Youth Leaders,

First and foremost, it is of my greatest priority to thank the Lord Jesus Christ for assigning me the role as a messenger of the Good News as explicitly communicated in the Scriptures, boldly preached by men and women across this land we called Earth. I would like to thank author Tracy Eldridge for presenting me the privilege to humbly and passionately contribute to this site as a writer dedicated to exemplified the love of Jesus Christ, and to be a role model of a God-honoring soldier who has devoted her time to engage in the lifelong battle against Satan.

Serving as Vice President of a student-led Christian organization that is highly unpopular has been very tedious. Since the coronavirus pandemic started, we have seen a sharp decline in attendees, and things have gotten worse ever since the Former President (who graduated with the Class of 2021) left. We have started collaborating with a Christian Fellowship Organization in Northwestern University (which the Former President is involved in) to implement new strategies to run the club for next school year.

My concern for writing this message is not to address the recent changes. I sincerely am in for a change every now and then, in light of the challenges we are still facing while adjusting to the post-quarantine world. However, what I am truly against is the tendency for us to see church or the solemn occasion of preaching, ministering, and meditating on the Word of God as a time to be entertained or simply “lighten up the mood”.

The truth is: The message is not always going to be comfortable nor convenient for you to hear. With this in mind, I wholeheartedly admire your curiosity and your desire to figure out why God exists, and whether science and other trends contradict the faith. Personally, I have little knowledge about evolution, although I did learn about it in my biology class freshman year. Based on some of the theoretical principles in this merely scientific concept, I do see various contradictions between that spoken of in terms of the creation narrative mentioned in Genesis 1.

It’s easy to listen to someone telling you that God is love, God is faithful, and God will take care of you and give you strength to endure trials. However, it is not easy to be told that you have a sin nature, and that the world that many so adore for its vain pleasures — is the very place where sin is ever-present, accepted, and celebrated by many. Among one of the most challenging and uncomfortable topics our teenagers do not like to hear is the issue of morality and the existence of Satan. It is not easy to write about, let alone speak of, such hard truths, let alone on a presentation or a blog post. In a climate where our disciplinary system encourages and fosters an environment of immorality and compromise, such messages must be preached as it is: and not watered down to satisfy an audience or gain numbers or popularity.

It is beyond sad that my generation has become so accustomed to the habit of attending a “church” presentation where the Word of God is being taught to receive donuts rather than the sweet taste of divine revelation and wisdom that will assist them down the road, for the sake of “recruitting new members”. It’s time to stop viewing this as an opportunity to be spectators sitting back and pretending that such occasion is like watching a comedy show from MTV. I encourage anyone who is leading a club to go beyond the “god is love” mantra, and preaching against immorality. It’s time to show our younger generation that there is a sacred obligation that is beyond the realm of fitting in with the group and delighting in the world. It’s time for parents to stand up and tell their children who Satan is, and teach them how to daily fullfill and persevere in our sacred duty to be devoted ambassadors of the light to a dark, wicked society.

Now is not the time to mingle around and just simmly “energize the room”. Now is the time that young leaders of Christian organizations in the corridors of public and private schools across America to rise above the status quo and be courageous in fostering and maintaining a climate of Godliness and demonstrate an attitude of determination to overcome every Strongman, every obstacle, every tragedy, and every influence that will hinder us from walking as a victorious and free people: released from Satan’s prison of iniquity! All because of the blood of the lamb of God that was shed on that cross.

Why is the church declining?

Don’t get me wrong, the church still exists…but barely. It has broken into so many different “congregations” and beliefs that it is no wonder that young people are confused about the message. Few churches preach or teach the same message. They twist it and “adapt” it to their audience so that everyone feels welcome. Jesus didn’t do that! He taught His message, God’s message, whether the people in the crowd liked it or not! If some walked away disgusted so be it. He was more interested in those who heard the message and wanted it to make a difference in their lives.

I watch Matt Hagee preach some days, early in the morning, and when the camera picks up people in the crowd it is amazing the differences you can see in the people’s faces. Some seem to be giving God the glory and praising Him during the service. While others seem to be indifferent to the message and just want him to get it over with. Then there are some who seem to be listening but the expression on their face is hard to read. It may be that they are interested in the content or they agree with what is being said…these are the people that aren’t quite sure what to do with the message. Why?

It could be that they are truly searching for the Truth of God’s Word. It could be that they feel the need for a Savior to make a difference in their lives but they’re not sure…yet. What will happen on that day when Jesus comes to take the church, His Bride, home to be with Him? Those who were indifferent will be angry at themselves because they didn’t listen prayerfully. Those who were interested in the message, and agreed that they needed Jesus hopefully made that decision before the Trumpet sounds.

The problem that I see in the crowds at Cornerstone church and other television crowds is that there are too many who want to wait or maybe “ride the fence” for a while. The problem with this is that we don’t know when God’s Trumpet will sound for us. The couple that wants to wait may be killed in a car wreck on the way home. The man who just wants the sermon to be over may have a heart attack this afternoon or tonight. Our individual “calling home” may happen before the Big call comes for the whole church and we have no idea when that call will come. Make sure of your salvation today before it is too late.

We’re not condemned, we’re redeemed!

Why did Jesus come when He did?

Lots of people think they know the answer to this question. He came to bring salvation to a dying world. He came to set us free from being slaves to sin and its consequences. He came because He loved each of us so deeply that He couldn’t bear seeing us suffer from the weight of sin. He came because God had pre-ordained that He would come to take the sins of the entirety of the human race on Himself and pay the penalty for our sins.

All of these are right, but He also came to bring the Kingdom of God to us so that we would know about it, and by following His example we could live it out in our lives and give it away to others.

This doesn’t work if you don’t believe in Jesus or anything that is written in the Bible, God’s Word. You have to believe in God and His Word and in Jesus Himself in order for you to even have a hope of living out even a fraction of His example…His Life that He invited us to share with Him and with others. This takes faith! Maybe not as much faith as believing that we came from apes but even a little faith, like a mustard seed, can make a BIG difference.

The Kingdom of God came to Earth through the ministry of Jesus, the Son of God. He brought it because it was foretold and predestined that HE would come and because His Father wanted us to have access to His Kingdom. The only way that we can have access to it is through the blood of Jesus Christ that covers our sins and redeems us from those sins and the punishment for them and for turning away from Him. Accepting Him as our Savior is the only way to be saved but many people do turn away. I pray that you, whoever you are, will not turn away from His call on your life.

The end of this life…

The end of our life on Earth is the beginning of eternity with Jesus if you are a believer. If you are not, then I suggest that you seek Him out soon before the Trumpet sounds and He appears in the clouds calling the church, His Bride, home.

B-I-B-L-E

“That’s the book for me. I stand alone on the Word of God, the B-I-B-L-E.” This is from a song taught to young children about the Bible in Bible school and in Sunday school too. Although, today was the first time I heard it.

The point is that, as young children, we believe the words of the song and the Bible as well. As we grow older and are taught in schools and in college that it isn’t true, we tend to walk away from that “child-like faith”. As we become adults we “just don’t have enough time” for the Bible and its teachings. Why?

Mostly, it is because the world around us doesn’t have time for it and the teachings of the Bible don’t correspond with the “values” of the world. In other words, “life gets in the way of our belief in God”, at least until we feel that we actually NEED Him. Growing up causes us to lose our child-like faith or rather it gets trampled by all of our “education” to the point of being forgotten until God gets our attention in some way.

The Bible didn’t come together as a collection until the Council of Nicea in the fourth century. A printed Bible with both the Old and the New Testaments wasn’t printed in English until the 1600s. So for 1200 years the Bible was written or printed in Latin and only the “clergy” was allowed to read it and tell their congregations what they should hear and know about God and His commandments and laws. If you don’t believe me, look it up.

My point is this: God gave every book and every letter of the Bible to mankind as our textbook to learn more about Him. It is not just an “instruction” book or a book of rules to live by. God’s Word is our guide but it is so much more than that. His Holy Spirit can make every book in it come alive and be instructive to you and me in ways that a book off the shelf can’t. But the Holy Spirit can only teach you through His Word if you are a Christian and have Him living inside your heart. If you don’t believe in Jesus as your Savior and have the Holy Spirit as your Teacher, then the Bible is just another book and it makes very little sense to you at all.

Read the book of John in the New Testament and ask God to show you what you need to know and Who you need in your life. Then, read the book of Luke and Acts and go from there to the end of the New Testament. Once you have finished that, then go back to the book of Genesis and read the whole Bible, asking the Holy Spirit to show you, Jesus, in these books that were written many hundreds of years before Jesus was born. He is there and your life will never be the same again.

The Unforgivable Sin: To All New Believers

A mother…

A mother is the one person who loves each of us no matter what. Her love is the very type of love that God uses to model His love to each of us. A father is sometimes present in the family and sometimes he isn’t, but if there are children in the family there is always a mother. This weekend, tomorrow is Mother’s Day. Make it a special one for your Mom and for your grandmother, if you can. Some of us don’t have that luxury anymore. All we have are memories. Make some good ones with your mother and your grandmother tomorrow. Happy Mother’s Day to all who read this.

Happy Mother’s Day!
