Dad…

I’m feeling nostalgic today because there was not enough time shared between me and my Dad before he passed. I hope that this post might cause some to think of their Dad and make sure to say the things that need to be said while there is time.

On that day in every person’s life, there will be an empty chair. At Thanksgiving and other holidays, you won’t see him there. You will remember everything he said and some things that he didn’t but you will also remember your last words to him. Good or bad, angry or loving. You will miss his hugs and his laugh and for some, you may miss his cooking too.

Dad is special and being one is special too. Any man can father a child but it takes a special one to be a Dad. He is usually always around except when he’s working. He always comes home tired but he can still talk to you about your problems.

Sometimes, he might be a little rough around the edges when he’s tired or maybe the bills are piling up more than the paycheck is but usually, those times don’t last very long…if you have a real Dad. God gives Dads a special helping hand from their wives because they are a part of the family equation too.

Dads and Moms are both special to their children, each in their own way. Mom can fix a scraped knee with a hug and a kiss and she can stir up some really tasty chocolate milk too. But Dad can put a worm on a hook for you and then help you catch the fish if it’s too big and he can go hunting with you too. There are lots of things that our parents do that we take for granted but you will remember every one of them when that day comes that they aren’t around anymore.

So…make sure that you tell them how you feel now while they are here because you won’t see their smile or feel that hug once they are gone.

Character comes from your heart

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. Luke 6:45 KJV https://bible.com/verse-of-the-day/luk.6.45/48430

Be patient with each other

with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Ephesians 4:2 KJV https://bible.com/verse-of-the-day/eph.4.2/56519

His Word is a Lamp…

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, And a light unto my path. Psalm 119:105 KJV https://bible.com/verse-of-the-day/psa.119.105/49508

Praise the Lord

the voice of joy, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the voice of them that shall say, Praise the LORD of hosts: for the LORD is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: and of them that shall bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the LORD. For I will cause to return the captivity of the land, as at first, saith the LORD. Jeremiah 33:11 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/jer.33.11.KJV

Sow into His Kingdom

But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. 2 Corinthians 9:6 KJV https://bible.com/verse-of-the-day/2co.9.6/77051

You can believe this!

Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and, whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? John 11:25‭-‬26 KJV https://bible.com/verse-of-the-day/jhn.11.25-26/10785

God has never gone back on a promise nor has He ever failed to deliver on one. God has promised in His Word that He would be with us until the end of the age. Whether that is the end of our lives or until the rapture of the church itself, only He knows those dates and the very hour that it will happen. All that we should be doing is making sure that we are ready. Don’t put off studying the Bible and learning more about Him. Don’t decide to skip going to church because someone hurt your feelings a few years ago. Those things are in the past and they should not keep you from becoming more like Jesus. When that day comes where will you stand?

Help each other

Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. Ecclesiastes 4:9 KJV https://bible.com/verse-of-the-day/ecc.4.9/27097

Give to God’s work

Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/2co.9.7.KJV

Cheer someone up!

25 Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad. Proverbs 12:25 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/pro.12.25.KJV
