What kind of peace?

Have you ever wondered what kind of peace is available to us? People search for “peace” most of their lives but they can’t tell you what kind of peace they are searching for. Most of them couldn’t tell you if you asked every person as a survey, “What kind of peace are you searching for?”. All of us know this feeling. When we are in high school we usually begin to feel this but we may not realize exactly what it is. Where is it pointing us? What direction is this feeling taking us in? Sometimes, we take the wheel in a manner of speaking and push our lives in one direction or another. Occasionally we get it right, find our vocation and calling in the same place, and feel satisfied. Although many people never find their place in the world and they never feel fulfilled in their life.

This is the time when we begin to search for meaning and purpose in our lives. Where should we look? The only place you will find real peace is in a relationship with Jesus Christ. Read God’s Word, especially the New Testament, because it is the fulfillment of the Old Testament. Nearly every prophecy that was written in the Old Testament has been fulfilled except for the Kingdom of Jesus on Earth and that is coming. The Tribulation and the Antichrist have not yet begun but they are coming too. The “taking up” of the Church hasn’t happened yet…but it could happen at any time.

It is amazing to me how many people in church have the most bored attitudes that show on their faces. I’ve seen them on television and from the pulpit but all of them have the same expression. No one seems to be the least bit joyful or happy about their salvation or the message being brought to them. God loves all of us and hearing about His grace and mercy, that we don’t deserve, should bring some semblance of joy and peace. Seek the Prince of peace and learn what real peace is.

Restless hearts

Augustine once wrote, “Thou hast made us for thyself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they find rest in Thee.”

This is a very true statement. God created the universe in six days and rested on the seventh, so is it hard to believe He could love you regardless of your sinful life? He loved us enough to send Jesus to pay the penalty for our sins so we could be given His mercy and grace through that sacrifice. He even inspired the writers of the Bible to create it in such a way that it cannot be explained except by divine inspiration.

Take a look at this illustration and you can see His influence in it.

There is no other way to see His work in the writer’s hands except in this way.

The Lord Will Fight For You and With You

Focus Passage: Exodus 14:13-14 (WEB)

13, Moses said to the people, “Don’t be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of Yahweh, which he will work for you today: for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you shall never see them again.
14, Yahweh will fight for you, and you shall be still.”

A Personal Reflection

As I laid in my bed in prayer last night, I briefly recalled a time in my life during Covid where I faced periods of anxiety and little moments of discouragement. The day before my school was shut down in 2020, I remembered crying in the middle of PE, wondering what was going to happen next, now that the world is coming to a screeching halt, and everyone is talking about the apacolypse and blindcakouts. Some days, it just seemed that I was this brave warrior praising God, and other days, it seemed like the world’s disasters had me stricken down. I even remembered a time during summer vacation where I was watching the television, and Satan tried to convince that Covid would “defeat me”, meaning that I should not rely on my faith to overcome this uncertainty that was happening on the brink of starting my sophomore year.

After Labor Day, my Christian club was holding its first meeting of the 2020-2021 school year via Zoom. We just welcomed in a new Vice President (a senior) who also turns out to be a woman who is passionate about her faith. Like me, she played the piano, was musically talented, and showcased her talents in church.

Me and the coleader were getting ready to host our first virtual 9/11 commemoration when I had the opportunity to speak to this new President via email and briefly get to know her personally and spiritually.

The above verses helped her navigate her internal struggles and setbacks throughout quarantine, and has resonated with her since. Having struggled academically and personally, scoring low on math tests and navigate through family challenges, this young lady truly exhibited the traits of an outgoing and bold sister of Christ who is willing to be a helping hand even in the lowest part of the valley. I am truly grateful that God led her to share her experiences with me so I may grow in my faith, and be challenged to look beyond the surface, and see God working behind the scenes to fight for me and protect me every step of the way.

Jesus Overcame The World And The Kingdom of ⠠⠙⠜⠅⠰⠎

I want to encourage anyone who is going through the fire today to trust the Lord with all your might, and to keep working for the kingdom of God, even in the heat of opposition. Rejoice, because God will fight your battle for you, and WITH you.

You are apart of an army of courageous champions. Go, rejoice, and sing to your Father in Heaven, because you are apart of the family of Jesus! Because you have answered the call of salvation, you no longer are a member of the family of Satan. You do not have to listen to the accusations of your enemies, nor do you have to be swayed by Satan’s discouraging lies he whispers to you! If God is for you, who can be against you? Go, embrace your freedom, and keep shining for Jesus in the fire, no matter how great it is. Amen! 🙂

Let us all continue to remain on fire for our Lord Jesus and remain steadfast in our faith, standing strong against the kingdom of Satan! 🙂

All of us need this…

https://godinterest.com/2019/09/20/how-christians-can-experience-deeper-rest/

In many ways, we need to study God’s Word to learn from Him how to find a deeper rest in Him. Following the path which David made while he was writing the Psalms, it is easy to find peace in your walk with Him. We are so busy in our lives today, until we get away from God’s Word. Sometimes we begin to feel as if we have moved away from our relationship with Him as well. The important part that we need to remember is that it is we who have moved…not God. He is always near His children and He is always available to us in our problems and in everyday life.

We all need the rest from our busyness that each of us has each and every day. Some of us have more of it than others do, but all of us suffer through it regardless of our vocation or our location. God knows this and He says that He will give us rest in Him, but do we accept that? Do you? Resting in Jesus’ is something that many of us find foreign and hard to do. Christians who have bills to pay, and who doesn’t, find it hard to slow down enough to rest most of the time. We look at all of the beauty around us and we sometimes wish that we could just sit and enjoy God’s creation but then the world intrudes and we move on.

We see the mountains or a beach and think that God was having a good day when He put all of that together. Our lives tend toward busyness so much until it seems that our relationships suffer, even with our own close family. But we should realize that God was having a good day when He formed each of us in the womb too. He put the molecules together which give each of us our unique personality and our abilities. He knows each of us better than any person ever could know us, whether we know Him or not. Jesus told His disciples that God the Father knows when a sparrow falls, so He certainly values each of us more highly than a sparrow. Why? Because we carry His image inside us even if we aren’t Christians.

All of us are made in His Image. Isn’t that amazing? The Creator of the universe, with all of the worlds and stars of all of the galaxies which He placed out there for us to realize that we can’t comprehend it all, knows each baby born on this small ball of earth in this solar system. He even knows the ones which haven’t been born yet! God is more than we can imagine or know fully, but if you know His Son then you will be known fully one day and you will see a little more of Him while you have eternity to learn and grow closer to Him.

I pray that this post finds you in your life when you need to find rest in Him because it is only by resting in Him that we can find true rest for our souls.

Resting in God’s Presence

In our world today we live almost twenty-four hours on and get very little actual rest even when we do sleep. Many of us have trouble sleeping, as I do, and take medication to “help us along”. In reality and physically we are sabotaging our restful periods because our body feels that if we don’t take something to push us into sleep, then we won’t get much if any!

I am determined to give prayer and some exercise a try to NOT take anything to help me get to sleep or to stay asleep. We aren’t supposed to be dependent upon pills to sleep but today with all of the electronic screens around us, scientists have confirmed that we are responsible for our sleep being unrestful and infrequent. God never designed us for all of the technology which is available to us today. We are supposed to put them down and give our brains time to wind down at some point, but do we?

Many of us do not. Young and old have e-readers and phones and laptops and flat-screen TV’s either in our bedroom or near us all the time and the light from those screens has an effect on us that people in the past generation didn’t have to deal with. Just twenty years or so in the past, we didn’t have e-readers and cell phones with screens, we didn’t have laptops and tablets which we could play games on or read books on. Since all of these came out there are more prescriptions for sleep aids and more ways to help us sleep than there ever was before.

God loves each of us and gives us a certain amount of energy to get through our days work, then we are supposed to wind down and give our worries and our problems to Him and get some restful sleep. I pray that you will try to do this just as I will, and hopefully we can get some true and honest rest without medication. Amen?
