Your eternity is in the balance and the location of your eternal life is the reward or the punishment. Reward if you will choose to be saved through Jesus and repent of your sinful life, if you refuse to repent and follow Jesus then your eternity will be in the lake of fire, not just for a little while but  “the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name..”  Revelation 14:11
