Where are the disciples?

Before Jesus left He told His disciples to go and make disciples of all nations; teaching them everything that He taught. We have taken the gospel to many nations but have we discipled them? Have we taught them how to carry their good news to others? In some places we have, but it would seem that it hasn’t taken the world by storm given the time that we have had over the past two thousand years.

Even in America, where we have the freedom to believe and worship however we want to, it seems that the church has dropped the ball on discipleship. What happened? The answer is this: the enemy has twisted our gospel and we, the church, have allowed it to happen. We have been afraid of being labeled as extremists or radicals, but Jesus was labeled that as well and His followers too.

So…what’s keeping us from taking His message to the other side of the street or to the next town? We shouldn’t be afraid of rejection because Jesus told us “if they will not receive your message, shake the dust off of your shoes and move on”. Thank them for their attention and wish them a nice day. God knows those who are called by Him and their hearts will be receptive to the gospel.

God calls those who will receive His message and if some don’t, then take it to someone else. Eventually you will find someone who is actively looking for a peace that can’t be explained or a Savior that will change them from who they are into the person He knows they can be. Carrying a grudge against someone only hurts you, so give your heart to Jesus and allow that grudge to be taken away. Let God fix that part of you that was hurt so you can be His regardless of the past.

Tell people about your encounter with Jesus and what He has done for you. Eternity is just up ahead, make sure it will be with Jesus. Our lives here are only a small part of the training, make sure of where you will spend the rest of your life. Will it be with Jesus or without Him?

By His grace…

Living Love…

You have heard sermons that preach “God is Love”. How can you understand that? Well, in many ways…we can’t fully understand it because describing the emotion of love, even between spouses, is hard to do. Love as an emotion is very hard to explain other than the dictionary definition of it, and like a picture of something magnificent, even that doesn’t quite do it. If you are a parent or a grandparent you know how you feel about your child or a grandchild and by that human feeling you know what love is. But could you describe it or explain it to someone?

Humanity is God’s creation, we are His children because He created each of us with qualities that nobody else has. Each of us on Earth is an individual with the personality and abilities that God placed in us while we were being formed in the womb. His love for us is even deeper than any emotion that we can feel because His love extends into our Spirit and our soul. That is why when John describes heaven, his words fail to express the completeness of it because all of creation is loved by God. Every blade of grass, every flower, every animal, every person on Earth is infused with God’s love.

We can’t imagine a love of that depth, that is why the colors and the beauty of Heaven completely overwhelms those who have had a glimpse of it and were given a chance to tell us what it looks like. Words just aren’t enough to describe His Love that gives life to everything. It was His love that held Jesus on the cross and it was love that brought Him out of the grave. God’s Love for His Son and for us.

I pray that you will look in God’s Word and see His Love for humanity because He doesn’t want anyone to go to hell. We send ourselves to hell when we refuse to see Him for the loving Creator and Savior that He is and has always been.

Jesus

When you think of the word “successful,” who’s the first person that comes to mind and why?

I know He is the son of God and His destiny was to be successful in His mission, but look at what He did! He came into the world and when his ministry started he showed the world who God really is. He showed the people that God loves them, whether they were sinners or not. Regardless of who they were or what they had done, God loves them. It’s the same message that is being shared about Jesus Christ and His Father today, if you hear a message from a Bible believing pastor.

Success came many years after His disciples had been killed or died, but it is still happening today! Don’t consider any gospel other than the one in the Bible about Jesus and the love of God. He’s still in the business of caring for and loving you in the places where you hurt. God loves you and that’s the message of success in this world today.

Jesus fills us!
